"Penso che siate un grande Trio."  Antonio Meneses, violoncellista del celebre 'Trio Beaux Arts', parla così del Trio Metamorphosi, composto da Mauro Loguercio e dai due fratelli Angelo e Francesco Pepicelli.
E anche altri illustri esponenti della musica cameristica, da Renato Zanettovich, violinista del 'Trio di Trieste' ("Un magnifico Schubert, siete estremamente efficaci") a Bruno Giuranna ("Un ottimo trio, la coesione fra gli strumenti è assolutamente rara, è stato un piacere ascoltarvi. Bravissimi!"), si esprimono in modo lusinghiero a riguardo.
Il nome del Trio è un inno al processo continuo di cambiamento, così necessario in ambito artistico. E intende sottolineare la progressiva crescita di un complesso cameristico mai schiavo dell'abitudine, anzi, sempre pronto a mettersi in gioco con la volontà di creare prospettive di unicità in ogni performance.
I tre musicisti vantano anche altre precedenti esperienze cameristiche di primissimo piano: in duo (violoncello e pianoforte), in quartetto d'archi, nonché collaborazioni con artisti del calibro di Magaloff, Pires e lo stesso Meneses. Si sono esibiti in numerose fra le sale più prestigiose del mondo, dalla Philharmonie di Berlino al Teatro alla Scala di Milano, dalla Salle Gaveau di Parigi alla Suntory Hall di Tokyo, dalla Carnegie Hall di New York al Coliseum di Buenos Aires.
A livello discografico, il Trio Metamorphosi è parte del catalogo DECCA. Per tale prestigiosa etichetta ha registrato l'integrale per trio di Schumann (il primo CD è uscito nell'ottobre 2015, mentre il secondo esattamente un anno dopo, nell'ottobre 2016). Le molte recensioni sinora pubblicate sono veramente lusinghiere.
Nel 2017 è stato pubblicato il CD DECCA, "Scotland", con una selezione di Arie e Lieder scozzesi di Haydn e Beethoven, in collaborazione con il mezzosoprano Monica Bacelli, mentre da gennaio 2019 a giugno 2021 è stata la volta del nuovo progetto discografico in quattro CD dell’integrale beethoveniana per trio (prima incisione DECCA di un trio italiano).
Nell’estate 2021, a suggello dell’integrale beethoveniana, un nuovo e inaspettato approdo porta il Trio Metamorphosi in scena nello spettacolo “Beethoven in Vermont” scritto da Maria Letizia Compatangelo, in cui i tre musicisti interpretano - anche recitando - i due fratelli Busch e Rudolf Serkin alla vigilia del concerto inaugurale del famoso Festival di Marlboro.
La metamorfosi continua.

"I think you are a fantastic trio." This is what Antonio Meneses, cellist from the famous 'Trio Beaux Arts', said about the Trio Metamorphosi, composed of Mauro Loguercio and the two brothers Angelo and Francesco Pepicelli.
Other illustrious representatives of chamber music, from Renato Zanettovich, Trio of Trieste ("A magnificent Schubert, you are extremely compelling") to Bruno Giuranna ("A great trio, the cohesion among the instruments is absolutely rare, it was a pleasure to listen to you. Very good!"), were also very flattering about the group.
The name of the Trio is a tribute to the continuous process of change, which is so necessary in the artistic field. And it intends to emphasize the progressive growth of a complex chamber ensemble, never enslaved by habit, indeed, always ready to play with the willto to create unicit prospectsin each performance.
The three musicians also boast previous top-level chamber music experience: duo (cello and piano), string quartet, and collaborations with artists including Magaloff, Pires and Meneses himself. They have performed in many of the most prestigious auditoria in the world, from the Philharmonic in Berlin to the Scala in Milan, the Salle Gaveau in Paris to the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Coliseum in Buenos Aires.
At the recording level, the Trio Metamorphosi is part of the DECCA catalogue. With this prestigious label, they recorded the unabridged edition for Schumann's trio (the first CD was released in October 2015, while the second came out exactly one year later, in October 2016). They have had many reviews published which have all been truly flattering.
In 2017 the CD DECCA "Scotland" was published, with a selection of Scottish Arias and Lieder by Haydn and Beethoven, in collaboration with the mezzo-soprano Monica Bacelli, while from January 2019 to June 2021 it was the turn of the new four-CD recording project of the complete Beethoven piano trios (first recording by an Italian trio in the entire history of the DECCA label).
In the summer of 2021, to seal the Beethovenian integral, a new and unexpected landing brings the Trio Metamorphosi to the stage in the show "Beethoven in Vermont" written by Maria Letizia Compatangelo, in which the three musicians interpret - also acting - the two Busch brothers and Rudolf Serkin on the eve of the inaugural concert of the famous Marlboro Festival.

Mauro Loguercio, violin

Così il noto critico Mario Bortolotto definisce il violinista Mauro Loguercio in una delle sue recensioni.
Violinista capace dì un rapporto naturalissimo con lo strumento, Loguercio si è esibito come solista in sale prestigiose, quali, fra le altre, la Queen Elizabeth Hall di Londra, la Filarmonica di Berlino, l'Accademia dí S. Cecilia di Roma e la Tonhalle di Zurigo, collaborando con direttori quali Riccardo Chailly, Eliau Inbal e Roberto Abbado, solo per citarne alcuni.
È stato ospite dei Festival di musica da camera di Marlboro, Dresda e St. Moritz e delle Settimane Musicali Internazionali di Napoli, oltre ad aver suonato per le più importantì società concertistiche italiane.
Proviene dalla scuola di Michelangelo Abbado e di Bruno Bettinelli; gli studi successivi con Salvatore Accardo, Corrado Romano e Stefan Georgiu hanno esercitato una notevole influenza sul suo stile. Il suo vasto repertorio spazia dal periodo barocco a Sciarrino.
Ha sempre nutrito una vera passione per la musica da camera, sin dalla sua apparizione, giovanissimo, al festival di Marlboro. Nel corso della sua carriera ha suonato in trio con Nikita Magaloff e Antonio Meneses, mentre in duo ha collaborato con Maria Joao Pires, Tamás Vásáry, Bruno Canino, Philip Fowke, Rocco Filippini, Franco Petracchi e Astor Piazzolla. Per anni è stato leader del "Quartetto David di Milano", col quale ha inciso l'integrale dei quartetti di Luigi Cherubini, Puccini e Verdi ("They do the music proud, playing with sensivity, taste and a real singing tone - features impeccable phrasing, optimal balances, and a truly enlivening sense of rhytm" - Classics Today). Con i fratelli Angelo e Francesco Pepicelli - Trio Metamorphosi - tiene concerti in tutto il mondo da più di un decennio.
Ultimamente la sua passione per la musica ha trovato nuovo nutrimento. Infatti, a latere della sua attività di violinista, ha sviluppato anche quella di direttore d'orchestra, trasmettendo tutto il suo entusiasmo e la sua esperienza ai giovani dell'Orchestra Giovanile del Lago Maggiore, con la quale tiene una regolare stagione di concerti.
È docente di violino al Conservatorio di Milano e alla Guildhall School a Londra.

Mauro Loguercio made his first appearance as a soloist at the age of 12, performing with the orchestra at the Conservatory of Milan under the conduction of Riccardo Chailly. He has an extremely natural rapport with his instrument, from which he obtains an expressive and generous sound; moreover, he grasps a vast repertoire, ranging from the pre-Bachian era to Alban Berg (and beyond).  
Mauro Loguercio has performed as a soloist in the most important concert halls, including the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, the Philharmonic of Berlin and the "Accademia di Santa Cecilia" in Rome.  
He has also attended, as a guest, at the chamber music Festivals of Marlboro, Dresden, St. Moritz, Naples, Campos do Jordao and Recife in Brazil, and has performed for the most prestigious Italian concert societies, ("Serate Musicali" in Milan, "Unione Musicale" in Turin, "GOG" in Genoa, "Settimane Musicali Internazionali" in Stresa, etc.).  
Mauro Loguercio has played with Maria Joao Pires, Tamas Vasary, Bruno Canino, Philipp Fowke, Bruno Giuranna, Eliahu Imbal, Monica Bacelli, Roberto Abbado, Rocco Filippini, Franco Petracchi, Cristina Ortiz, Fabrice Pierre and Astor Piazzola, and in the years 1987-1990 has joined in trio Nikita Magaloff and Antonio Meneses. He has been devoting his activities to the string quartet for fourteen years, creating the "Quartetto David", with whom he has performed at the Berlin Philarmonic, the
Tonhalle in Zürich, all around Europe and South America and recorded by BIS label 4 CDs. Finally he has given life to the "Trio Metamorphosi" with Angelo and Francesco Pepicelli (piano and cello, respectively). With them he performed in Italy, England, Switzerland, Austria, France, Brazil) and recorded for Decca the two CDs dedicated to the complete Schumann's Trios and a  further CD, "Scotland", with a selection of Arias and Scottish Lieders by Haydn and Beethoven, in collaboration with the mezzosoprano Monica Bacelli..  
As a conductor he graduated under the orientation of the renowned Profs. Franco Ferrara, Mario Gusella and Donato Renzetti, and, after having spent his life embracing his violin, he recently came back to his first passion, by conducting a youth orchestra, finding there the same natural feeling he has with his instrument and his chamber music's colleagues.  
He is violin professor at Milan Conservatoire and taught at the Guildhall School in London.

Francesco Pepicelli, cello

È questa l'originale metafora utilizzata da un giornalista-recensore per definire la sua esecuzione del Concerto di Haydn al Teatro Grande di Brescia, salutata dai 1000 presenti con lunghi e calorosi applausi. E degne di nota sono altresì le sue esecuzioni in Sala Verdi a Milano del Concerto di Schumann con la direzione di Daniele Gatti e del Concerto di Saint-Saëns con Stefan Anton Reck sul podio. Da ricordare anche il momento toccante della commemorazione delle vittime del 2 agosto a Bologna nel 2007, in cui suonò come solista in diretta televisiva RAI due pezzi in prima esecuzione assoluta con l'Orchestra del Comunale di Bologna e la Filarmonica Toscanini, unite per l'occasione davanti ad una platea di oltre 2000 persone.
Ma l'amore di sempre resta quello per la musica da camera: un'esperienza quarantennale con il Duo Pepicelli ( ora PiCello Bros.) insieme al fratello pianista Angelo e quella quasi ventennale con il Trio Metamorphosi, con lo stesso pianista e il violinista Mauro Loguercio. Quasi 1000 esibizioni in tutto il mondo, dalla Carnegie Hall di New York alla Suntory Hall di Tokyo.
Dagli anni '90 fino ad ora ha inciso una ventina di CD per diverse case discografiche, tra cui i 7 per DECCA, altri per Naxos, Camerata Tokyo ed alcuni per la rivista Amadeus.
Tra gli ultimi esaltanti progetti quelli del PiCello Bros. e dell’Ensemble Metamorphosi oltre allo spettacolo Beethoven in Vermont, in cui si cimenta come MusicistAttore in un vero e proprio musical di musica classica (così denominato dalla critica).
Anche l'attività didattica riveste una grossa importanza nella sua vita musicale: dalle centinaia di allievi formati al Conservatorio di Perugia in 30 anni alle molte masterclass tenute in Europa e in Giappone. Dal novembre 2023 e’ docente di musica da camera presso il Conservatorio Briccialdi di Terni. Giovani violoncellisti e formazioni cameristiche, grazie al percorso con lui intrapreso, si sono affermati in competizioni internazionali e concorsi d'orchestra, sia in Europa che in Sudamerica. Momenti importanti di crescita e maturazione all'inizio della carriera sono stati quando, da giovanissimo, ha avuto l'opportunità di incontrare e lavorare con famosi artisti tra cui violoncellisti quali Paul Tortelier, David Geringas, Antonio Janigro, Rocco Filippini, Mario Brunello, Amedeo Baldovino, Radu Aldulescu, Siegrield Palm e pianisti quali Dario De Rosa, Bruno Canino e Maureen Jones. Da ricordare, sempre in quel periodo giovanile, nella primavera del 1989, la memorabile tournée come primo violoncello solista della Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester sotto la guida di Claudio Abbado, in cui suonò dal Musikverein di Vienna in diretta radiofonica per 19 radio di tutto il mondo.

This is the original metaphor used by a journalist-reviewer to define his performance of Haydn's Concerto at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, which was greeted by the 1000 present with long and warm applause. Also worthy of note are his performances in the Sala Verdi in Milan of the Schumann Concerto conducted by Daniele Gatti and the Saint-Saëns Concerto with Stefan Anton Reck on the podium. Also worth remembering is the touching moment of the commemoration of the victims of 2 August in Bologna in 2007, when he played as soloist live on RAI television two pieces in world premiere with the Orchestra del Comunale di Bologna and the Filarmonica Toscanini, united for the occasion in front of an audience of over 2000 people.
But his lifelong love remains that for chamber music: a 40-year experience with the Duo Pepicelli (now PiCello Bros.) together with his pianist brother Angelo and the almost 20-year experience with the Trio Metamorphosi, with the same pianist and violinist Mauro Loguercio. Almost 1,000 performances all over the world, from Carnegie Hall in New York to Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
From the 1990s until now, he has recorded some 20 CDs for various record companies, including 7 for DECCA, others for Naxos, Camerata Tokyo and some for Amadeus magazine.
Among the latest exciting projects are those of the PiCello Bros. and the Ensemble Metamorphosi as well as the show Beethoven in Vermont, in which he tried his hand as a musician-actor in a real classical music musical (so called by the critics).
The teaching activity is also of great importance in his musical life: from the hundreds of students trained at the Conservatory of Perugia in 30 years to the many masterclasses held in Europe and Japan. Since November 2023, he has been teaching chamber music at the Conservatorio Briccialdi in Terni. Young cellists and chamber ensembles, thanks to the path undertaken with him, have established themselves in international competitions and orchestra competitions, both in Europe and South America. Important moments of growth and maturation at the beginning of his career were when, as a very young man, he had the opportunity to meet and work with famous artists including cellists such as Paul Tortelier, David Geringas, Antonio Janigro, Rocco Filippini, Mario Brunello, Amedeo Baldovino, Radu Aldulescu, Siegrield Palm and pianists such as Dario De Rosa, Bruno Canino and Maureen Jones. Also in that youthful period, in the spring of 1989, he made a memorable tour as first cello soloist of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester under Claudio Abbado, in which he played from the Musikverein in Vienna live on radio for 19 radio stations around the world.

Angelo Pepicelli, piano

"Cari fratelli Pepicelli, siete proprio bravi. Inoltre siete affiatati in modo vero, non uno più uno ma due". Con queste parole il compositore Goffredo Petrassi evidenzia una delle doti peculiari di Angelo: la capacità di formare un unicum con i suoi partner musicali.
Camerista nato, formatosi innanzitutto nella propria famiglia vivendo la crescita musicale dei quattro fratelli minori, ha poi stretto un sodalizio profondo con il cellista, Francesco, con il quale ha fondato il Duo Pepicelli, che ha conseguito premi internazionali di prima classe ('Gui' di Firenze su tutti) e suonato in numerose delle più importanti sale del mondo (fra le altre Carnegie Hall di New York, Suntory Hall a Tokyo e Salle Gaveau a Parigi).
Nel 2005 ha fondato con il violinista Mauro Loguercio e con suo fratello Francesco il Trio Metamorphosi, altro ensemble poi affermatosi sulla scena internazionale.
I suoi mentori sono stati due pianisti di riferimento della musica da camera italiana della seconda metà del Novecento, Bruno Canino e Dario De Rosa. Gli incontri con Zecchi e Perticaroli al Mozarteum di Salisburgo hanno costituito momenti significativi della sua formazione solistica, che lo ha portato anche a suonare da solista con orchestre di rilievo nazionale.
Uno dei meriti riconosciutigli dalla critica è quello di aver portato a nuova vita il repertorio cameristico italiano fra Ottocento e Novecento e di aver sempre suonato il grande repertorio, "come se lo si ascoltasse per la prima volta" (citazione da una recensione tedesca sul concerto del 2 dicembre 1994 Meersburger Winter, Internationale Konzertreihe).
Naxos, Dynamic ed altre case, nonché la rivista 'Amadeus', hanno pubblicato una decina di suoi CD, spesso affermatisi come edizioni di riferimento, grazie anche a recensioni lusinghiere.
La didattica, nella quale è impegnato da oltre trent'anni, è vissuta con profonda dedizione e sempre nuova passione non solo a Terni, dove insegna pianoforte e musica da camera, ma anche in masterclasses in Italia, Giappone, Polonia.
Ha sempre dedicato uno spazio importante all'organizzazione di concerti, convinto che l'esperienza conseguita potesse giovare al pubblico della città in cui insegna e vive. Ecco quindi i grandi successi dell'Associazione Filarmonica Umbra, di cui è attualmente Presidente, dopo essere stato per vent'anni nella Commissione Artistica.

"Dear Pepicelli brothers, you are really good. You are also really close-knit, not one and one, but two". With these words, composer Goffredo Petrassi highlights one of Angelo's peculiar gifts: the ability to create harmony with his music partners. 
Chamber musician born, firstly trained in his own family, living off the musical growth of the four younger brothers, then made a lasting association with cellist Francesco, with whom he founded Duo Pepicelli, winner of first-class international prizes ('Gui' of Florence above all) and played in many of the most prestigious halls in the world (among others Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Salle Gaveau in Paris).
In 2005 he founded the Trio Metamorphosi, another ensemble recognized on the international stage, with violinist Mauro Loguercio and his brother Francesco.
His mentors were two reference pianists of Italian chamber music of the second half of the twentieth century, Bruno Canino and Dario De Rosa. The meetings with Zecchi and Perticaroli at the Salzburg Mozarteum were significant moments of his solo training, which also led to him playing solo with national orchestras.
One of the merits recognized by critics is that of bringing the Italian repertoire of Italian music between the nineteenth and twentieth century to new life and having always played the great repertoire "as if hearing it for the first time" (quote from a German review on the concert of 2 December 1994 Meersburger Winter, Internationale Konzertreihe).
Decca, Naxos, Dynamic and other houses, the magazine 'Amadeus' too, published a dozen of their CD's, often affirmed as reference issues, also thanks to lucrative reviews.
Didactics, in which he was engaged for over thirty years, is lived with deep dedication and always with a renewed passion not only in Terni, where he taught piano and chamber music, but also in masterclasses in Italy, Japan, Poland.
He has always devoted an important place to organizing concerts, convinced that the experience gained could benefit the public of the city in which he teaches and lives.
